Welcome, This blog is part of my pilot program to introduce my approach to teaching, learning, publication, and conducting field work. The concept is presented in a short booklet I created for the Art Institute of Washington. The booklet can be viewed on the IFP Concept Development page (see tab). Burning Man "DearTemple of Transition" 2011, by Ian MacKenzie
Dear Temple of Transition - A Burning Man Short Film from Ian MacKenzie on Vimeo.
A little nostalgia- I haven't been back to Burning Man since 2012. Not much traveling....
The actual music inside the Temple was Indonesian Gamelan music. The system worked like a player piano except it was the parts of a gamelan orchestra located all over the walls of the temple. The instruments of the orchestra are all of the xylophone and gong families (metallophones). They were triggered by some kind of electronic script.
The emotional intensity of the Temple doesn't convey well on video- but MacKenzie managed to convey it very well with this short film- so I thought I would post it here.

To El Rocio Costa Este: Aiken, South Carolina
The first place I stopped for the night, in Aiken, was very nice and very affordable- just $25 for full hook-up. But on the other hand, it may also have been where one of my Alcoa hubcaps and set of bolt covers were stolen.
